Congratulations on your new pet! Ensuring your pet's microchip reflects the correct keeper details is vital for their safety and compliance with legal requirements. Follow the steps below to update your pet's keepership information:

Initiate Transfer of Keepership: You can start a Transfer of Keepership request by visiting our homepage at www.identibase.co.uk. Locate the Transfer of Keepership link in the top right corner of the page. If you do not have an account with us, you will need to create one. Follow these steps to proceed with the transfer request.

Payment of Transfer Fee: Please note that there is a transfer fee of £30 associated with updating keepership information. The transfer fee enables us to seek permission to relinquish keepership from the current registered keeper and to update the database to ensure all details are transferred and correct as per the legal requirements in England, Scotland and Wales to chip your dog and per the legal requirements to chip your cat in England and keep recorded details up to date. You will also have the benefit of our identialert membership, the UK’s most comprehensive missing pet alert system for 12 months.
- Confirmation Process: Once the transfer request is initiated, we will contact the current registered keeper and allow 14 days for them to confirm the details provided. If we do not receive confirmation within this period, your request will be automatically approved.
- Special Circumstances: If the previous keeper of your pet has passed away, please contact our team at 0330 912 8077 for further assistance.

Registered Keeper:
- We do require that the transfer of keepership request comes from the new keeper.
- Once the transfer request is received, we would contact the previous registered keeper (yourself) to obtain permission to transfer the keepership and we can still do this for the pet in question.
- Alternatively, you can contact us to give your consent prior and the keepership will automatically be changed once the new keeper contacts us.
